Leonhardt sat under a tree, waiting for school to let out, and Linda to come running out to greet him. She was a Teacher at the Schoolhouse, taught the more older students, ones in the middle of their education.
That's where they had met too. Leo, a foreign exchange student from Knothole, and Linda, the top of her class, sat next to each other on the first day of their 8th year [assume it's like 8th grade]. He remembered the first time he learned her name.
It was a hot, sunny day, and the class was outside, to study the plants and animals of Albion. As was usual during the time, the class left the main gate of Bowerstone, and walked around Look-out Point, or Make-out point as they called it back then. Linda was admiring some flowers, while Leo was high up in a tree resting on a branch, and staring at the sky, daydreaming. He was fantasizing about himself becoming a bounty hunter, and becoming famous all around Albion, when he heard a scream.
He looked down, and saw that Linda had disturbed a Wasp's nest, while rummaging through flowers. There were too many of them for her to just run away. Leo lept down out of the tree, a large branch in hand, landing between the Wasps and Linda.
"Run, girl." Leo had said, clutching the stick, facing the Wasps.
"My name...is Linda." She said, before turning, and running back to the gate, to alert the teacher.
Leo fought bravely, swatting the Wasps this way and that, taking care not to get stung by the venomous insects. But, after a particularly wild flourish, Leo felt the sharp pain of a Wasp stinger on his back. There were only a few left now, and his pain quickly turned into anger, fueling his actions, and giving him the strength to persevere. His swings grew more and more viscious, as more and more stings hit him, pumping the paralyzing venom into his body. At last, after the final wasp had been felled, the queen emerged, significantly larger than the others, but also much slower. Leo snapped off the end of his stick, making it a sharp, but crude spear, which he hurled with the last of his remaining energy at the queen.
He dropped to his knees, the wasp venom beginning to take effect. He heard the loud screech of the wasp queen, and felt warm liquid spray onto his arm, then a thud, as the queen hit the ground, dead. His vision began to blur, his senses fading, as he keeled over and hit the ground. He was conscious long enough to hear footsteps in the leaf covered earth, and a grown man yelling "Get the doctor, this boy's been stung!" before everything faded to black.
Will finish part 2 later.
