In the land of Albion there are many choices you must make that will decide if you are good or evil. The display of that in Albion Tales is your Karma Points located under your name and avatar. Negative means bad, Positive means good. Past 100 in either direction means.... well.... very bad or very good. But how do you get to that point? Well this post should help you out.
Being good is much more difficult than it sounds. It isn't just killing monsters anymore, which won't get you good points. It means going out of your way to help someone else. Here are some ways you can get good points.
Some Quests, hosted at the Guild, give you good points upon completion. If it is for the good of the country, organization, or you are simply helping out an injured hero it will give you Good Points.
If your character is nearby when something evil is happening (Kidnapping, Stealing, etc) then they can intervene. This will result in good points for them, whether or not they win the fight. However, the rules are that you must have posted in that area (Bowerstone, Oakvale, Greatwood) within an hour of the Evil posting. Otherwise you would have had to fast travel just to catch the bad guy in the act. It doesn't make much sense. If you aren't in the area at the time of the crime then you can't prevent it. Sorry.
Strange as it seems, if the Admins see you performing an act of general kindness they will give you good points for it. So if your neighbor asks you to help fix his roof then help him out. It may be good for you in the long run.
Instead of gold for a job you would receive good points because you are volunteering your time for nothing but your own self satisfaction. Remember though that volunteering is a lot of work and if you want to be paid in moral points then you need to make the commitment.
Being evil is actually quite difficult. NPCs to kill indiscriminately will be rare so keep that in mind.. So there has to be new and creative ways to turn evil. Just remember not to do so in front of town guards.
One of the best ways to get Evil points is to steal from other characters. You can't steal from their bank account so you must instead steal from their person during a post. If a character posted before you, you can write that you snuck up behind them and stole money. However, do we ever make things that easy? A person can catch you stealing. In order to properly steal something you must post yourself quietly sneaking up with the intent to steal, grabbing some coins, and slipping away, all in three completely different posts, 5 minutes apart each. This means it takes 15 minutes to steal something. But it's fair, those 15 minutes gives the person enough time to see if anyone's stealing from them or for another good samaritan to step in
If you knock a person unconscious, something the Heroes must decide, it is possible to elect to kidnap them. After kidnapping them the other character is still allowed to post, it wouldn't be fun if they couldn't, but only in the same area as their kidnapper or wherever their prison is. The Kidnapper has to set up what restrictions the kidnappee has ahead of time. The Kidnappee can only escape through a flaw in their kidnappers prison and if they are rescued. Kidnappers can also bargain for ransom. Lots of Evil points.
Attacking someone for no reason is another form of Evil behavior. If your character has anger issues and just runs up to someone and punches them then they will receive evil points. Punching an unaware character is not considered God-Modding since it does not have an adverse affect on them, the character wouldn't have expected anything, and it could be interesting to the story. Severe beatings won't be allowed. Only one push, punch, slap or kick.
Killing is badong. (BadWrong) So why do it? Well it will give you the most amount of evil points if you do it for the wrong reasons. There will be some points throughout the site that there will be and NPC character (played by an admin) You could kill the character or help them, whatever takes your fancy. Also if you start a fight with a real Character and they die as a result you will get many evil points.
Hope that helps. Write to me if you need more of an explanation
