Magpie stood watching the ghost of the woman walking about the City. She was going about what she used to do. Ushering a child ghost off to school, and heading back to the house, sitting down and crying for the loss of her other child. Magpie stepped in. He spoke despite the fact she couldn't hear him. "Mother? I'm here mother... I havn't gone missing... I didn't abandon you and Arthur like Father did... I'm... Not like him... I didn't call the Shadow Court here. I didn't destroy our City." Magpie said, beginning to sob as he fell to his knees.
Magpie pushed open the door, he walked outside, supporting himself on Alviar. Hawk had asked him to accompany him to Necropolis. Due to Magpie's vast knowledge of the realm. Magpie stood, waiting for his near-protegé.

Hawk arrived at the front gates with the ice cold winds slapping his giant body.
'I was told to expect a mob of southern bandits by the mayor of Necropolis. If your looking for that stupid 'stone tablet of Yark' then let me tell you this, there is no hope. You are not the first person to come looking for it and definitely not the last!' shouted a small guard at Hawk through the rough winds.
'But I doubt those previous explorers had 100+ strong soldiers to help look for it' replied Hawk with a laugh. The guard was lost for words as he noticed the rest of the bandits marching up to the iron gate in a war formation. There bodies were coated with balverine fur which they had slain on the way up, most were still stained with the blood of the beast. The guard had no choice but to let them in. The iron gates opened and Hawk was allowed access into the ghost town.
The sound of his soldiers footsteps marching through the snow was incredible, it was even louder than the wintery ghails. They walked through the deserted city without raiding and finally arrived in what appeared to be the town center. Some of the bandits shivered, not from the cold but from the site of the dead walking around besides them and occasionally through them. 'Magpie, glad you could come.' said Hawk loudly as he noticed the man leaning on his staff. Magpie did not look well as he had tears trickling down his cold cheeks. 'Do you know where the stone tablet of Yark is?' asked Hawk. He turned around and noticed Griff walking towards them, down the line of bandits who were silent, awaiting there orders.

"This place is creepy, I don't like it" Griff said looking around. The site of this many bandits was a site to behold. Griff had been on many expeditions, but never with this many people. "So, Magpie, Hawk. Any ideas on where to start? I haven't really pressed anyone for information yet" Griff said

Magpie looked at Griff. Moving his head to the side quickly as if to say "I need to talk to you". "Give me a moment. Let me recuperate. I'll remember the way soon enough." Magpie said, moving over to the left, out of earshot from everyone else, turning around. "Griff! Come here a moment! I need your assistance!" Magpie shouted, leaning on Alviar.

Griff approached Magpie, not sure what it was he needed assistance with. "So, what is it Magpie?"

"If the Stones of Yark leave this town. I will flicker in and out of reality. My true age will catch up with me. And I will most likely turn to dust. I am bound to the Stones Of Yark. They are one with my life force." Magpie said.

'Magpie!' shouted Hawk through the strong winds, 'you never answered my question' he shouted again whilst looking at the two men talking in the distance.

Griff heard Hawk's booming voice through the ice cold wind that was blowing all around. "Magpie, my allegiences lie with Hawk. If you wish this stone to remain here then discuss it with him. But if he wants it, I will help him" Griff explained He walked back over to Hawk's side and remained there, looking at Magpie as if to say 'sorry'

Magpie spoke to Griff before he left. "I don't want them to stay here. I just want someone to know why I won't be here long after this quest. Let's go get the stones." Magpie said. He looked around at the familiar, yet unfamiliar surroundings. "Hawk! I've remembered the way!" He shouted back to Hawk. "Follow me!"

Hawk smiled at the news. 'Everyone follow Magpie, keep in formation!' shouted Hawk at his bandit soldiers. He could not allow them to disperse out of a group as they would wonder off and almost certainly head back to camp as he could see by their shifty eyes, they were not comfortable walking around next to the dead.
The sound of rustling echoed around the city as the bandits gathered there armour and weapons up and began to march behind Magpie, Griff and Hawk.

Griff felt uneasy as he marched along side Hawk. The site of the dead wandering the streets made Griff feel like he was being watched every step he took. They followed Magpie along an old path, and Griff was unsure about the whole quest now. "So Magpie will be gone if we take this stone" Griff thought Griff looked over at Hawk while they were walking and caught his attention. "I'm not so sure about this anymore Hawk" he said

Hawk looked over to Griff as he stated that he was unsure about continuing. Hawk felt concerned for him and asked, 'What's wrong? If it is the ghosts your worried about just remember that these ones are not even aware of us passing through.'

Griff thought about telling Hawk, but wasn't sure if he was betraying Magpie by telling him. "Well Magpie told me that if the stone of Yark is taken from this place he will basically die. It's somehow keeping him alive. I don't know if we should do this" Griff whispered to Hawk, well out of earshot of Magpie.

Hawk was very surprised and confused to the information that Griff had provided him. 'Well he did not tell me anything and he is leading us towards the stone. I suppose we should just carry on until he tells us to stop' said Hawk trying to keep his voice down so Magpie would not hear him. He did not know what to think, didn't Magpie trust him anymore?

Magpie continued walking to the Stones Of Yark, halting when they were in sight. "Up there Hawk." Magpie shouted, pointing at the stones.

Hawk stared over to where Magpie was pointing. Several large stones towered out of the snow with different symbols engraved onto each one.
Moving closer Hawk reached out to touch one of the stones but was hit by a bright yellow spark which sent him flying backwards into his own bandits. 'Magpie you seem to know what to do, go and get the stone please' said Hawk whilst lying on the ground struggling for air.

"Before I do." Magpie said. "Can I just say it has been good to fight alongside you Hawk." Magpie nodded, forcing a smile. He moved over to the stones of Yark, laying his hands on the first one. He pulled it out of it's slot, and as it came loose, he felt the most painful thing anything could ever feel, he fell down to his knees, dropped the stone, and threw up. The first stone rolled down to Hawks feet.

Hawk had gotten up and saw what happened. The stone rolled towards Hawks feet but he ignored it and ran straight towards Magpie, quickly catching him before he fell. 'Magpie, Griff told me what will happen to you if I take the stone. I simply won't allow it, lets head home' said Hawk, now on his knees holding Magpie up.

Griff picked up the stone and looked at it. As he held it in his hands he looked at Magpie on his hands and knees in pain.
I have to know what happened to Violet he thought "I am sorry Magpie, but I HAVE TO KNOW!" Griff yelled as he turned to make a quick dash away

Magpie breathed heavily, he coughed up blood as Griff left the gate of the town, falling down onto his back. He rolled onto his stomach, continuously coughing up blood.
