Scarlett tried to help Daygon up, toward the gate, but he was still healing from the Health Potion. After trying several times she decided that the only thing she could do was defend her position and keep the Balverines away while he was healing. She felt ready as they approached.
Of course when the smaller (Although they could hardly be called small) brown ones separated to reveal several towering white Balverines, Scarlett began to lose some of that courage.
"Wish me luck Daygon." She whispered to the still unconscious man near her feet, finishing the sentence just as an arrow riddled Balverine stalked close to her. Scarlett made a mental note to thank the pretty raven haired archer that kept saving her arse.
The white Balverine grew closer, his breath a fetid stench of rotten meat and blood. The white balverine towered over the all the others, stretching to be more then 8 feet. Scarlett hacked at a tendon in it's arm, hoping to render it useless. It worked but not exactly as she planned, only slowing the movement in the Balverine's arm.
A strike from the remaining arm sent Scarlett flying backwards nearly 15 feet before hitting a tree. Her entire body hurt and she could feel the burst capillaries pooling to create bruises. Scarlett staggered to her feet and began to run back over to the White Balverine who was now inspecting the still unconscious Daygon.
"Hey! Leave him alone!" The White Balverine looked angrily at her. He sprinted to her as best he could with a severed Achilles Tendon. Just as the bounding creature was about to leap on her, Scarlett fell to one knee and thrust her sword into it's head. The momentum carried both of them forward crashing into a large rock.
Scarlett pushed the heavy dead animal off of her and wobbled back onto her feet. There were still two more white Balverines left. She rushed over to Daygon, hoping to find him awake now and ready to fight, but healing potions took alot out of some people.

"Stand back, hero." Faddarz walked up to Scarlett and pushed her gently aside. "I don't usually do this, but I can't just stand by while one hero is already incapacitated." Faddarz produced a Bow from his pack. It shone with the augmentation of silver. He knotched an arrow and let it fly. The missile flew like a bird through the skull of a White Balverine. "Take this." He handed an obsidian longsword to Scarlett, it too shining with silver. "You'll need it."

Scarlett would have smiled broadly at Faddarz if it had not been for another Balverine approaching. She laid her Iron Longsword beside Daygon and lifted the Obsidian one. It was a bit heavier then the Iron but she realized that if she swung about a second earlier then she normally did it would account for heft.
Scarlett stood poised on the balls of her feet as another Balverine rushed forward, they were coming out of no where, rushing forward from the depths of Witchwood. Scarlett swung the sword into the back of a retreating Balverine, it had been heading toward one of the other Heroes, and heard it's spine crunch. The sound made Scarlett wince but she stabbed her dark blade into the heart of the twitching Balverine to finish the job.
For some reason, at that moment, she remembered that all of these creatures had once been people and a great wave of saddness washed over her. It didn't debilitate her for too long though, cause another creature rushed toward her and she was forced to focus on living for a few more minutes and not the fate of the poor souls inside the raging monsters.

Faddarz had just killed a White Balverine with a single shot.
"That's one less Balverine to kill." she shouted over the howls and roars.
She fired as many arrows as she could at the White Balverine she had been fighting. All of them landed straight in it's chest. She had almost run out of arrows as well. She doubt she could recover many arrows from the hide of the White Balverines. She fired one out of ten of her last arrows in the head of the Balverine. It didn't look like it did much.
Damn, all of my shots on those things are like bee-stings. I need a better bow after this, she thought.
She took two arrows and notched them. She positioned her bow sideways. She took aim, and fired.
The two arrows flew straight into the eyes of the Balverine. They pierced right through the eyes. She could tell, because she saw the arrows sticking out of the back of the White Balverine's skull.
Finally, the beast fell, dead at her feet. There was one White Balverine left, but a lot more brown ones to go.

Daygon opened his eyes to see a balverine looking down at him snarling. Quickly rolling over Daygon grabbed the first thing he found and swung it forcefully at the balverine. Luckily it was an iron longsword! 'My luck must be growing' said Daygon happily as he swung the longsword all around him to clear the area. He spotted Scarlett fighting nearby and ran towards her. As Scarlett stopped battling to look around at Daygon she was relieved to see that the healing potion had worked. 'I owe you my life' shouted Daygon over the balverine raws. Daygon killed the final balverine which was nearby, turned to Scarlett and immediately hugged her. 'I cannot thank you enough and I shall forever be in your gratitude, anything you want I will give it to you.' He ignored Scarlett's reaction and said, 'It is the least I can do' with a wide smile. The last white balverine sprinted up the path to face a lost battle. There were six heroes and only one balverine. Daygon understandably stuck by Scarlett's side as all of the heroes walked towards the balverine with their weapons at the ready.

Glenroy jumped ahead of the other heroes. The white seemed to observe him for a while. Then without warning it sprang. Spinning beneath it Glenroy cut both legs at the knee. The legs spun through the air trailing blood. "We finish it together" Glenroy said. Simultaneously Ravyn shot an arrow directly into one eye And Faddarz the other. Daygon swung his axe into the beasts back and Scarlett and Glenroy thrust their swords down into it. Neverfall twirled his dual katanas and planted them in it's neck. The beast died.

Ravyn gazed down at the dead beast.
"Well, it looks like all of the Balverines are dead. Now we need to get that mushroom." she said.

"I doubt we will need it, considering we just wiped out a coven of Balverines. The cave is probably empty now, but we should be cautious.

"Onwards!" Glenroy called and the heroes set off. "So Ravyn I wonder if i'll be paid even though I didn't officialy sign up for the quest?" he said "What do you think? Also the way you handled your bow back there was astounding".

"I really don't know Glenroy. But if not, you can have half of mine. Think of it as a rent payment. My arrows don't fly that great. Some fly as straight as a rainbow sometimes. But what I really need is a better bow. This one serves me well, but it's more of a practice bow, not a bow needed to kill large beasts." she said.

"If that was you at your worst Ravyn then I hate to be on the recieving end of you at your best. I don't think many of us would still be here if you hadn't been shooting so perfectly."
Scarlett took a deep breath, glad that they had a bit of a rest as they walked to the cave. She turned to Daygon.
"Daygon. First of all, no repayment is necessary. I used your health potion in case you were forgetting. And what happened to you? There was a huge wound in your side?" She waited patiently for the answers as the 6 heroes marched toward their actual destination.

"It definitely wasn't my worst, but it wasn't my best either. I saw that too Daygon. It looked like a Balverine took a bite out of you." she said.

The health potion cleared that up said Daygon smiling.
As the heroes marched on wards Daygon fell behind them because his arm started to vibrate violently. Daygon looked down at his arm feeling very worried about it. Looking at the others up ahead he shouted, 'I am just going to stop here, you carry on'. However the heroes did not hear or notice that he had stopped so they carried on happily knowing that their quest was almost over.
Daygon slid down a nearby wall and started to whimper. He felt fine but knew there was something wrong with him. His head twitched and he said out loud, 'Surely theres a cure', he sat there wondering where he could find one.

The Heroes found themselves at the maw of the cave. It didn't look like a small cave either. The walked inside. The air in the cave was horrid, it smelt of decay and death. The cave was dark and damp as well. She called a small fireball to her hand to light up the area.
"Looks like we've got a long path before we get to this mushroom. Keep your eyes open, there could still be Balverines anywhere." she said.

Scarlett saw Daygon quivering beside her. He looked like he had a fever or something. Scarlett tried to remember how all those people turned into Balverines in the first place. Was it a potion that went wrong? But looking at Daygon now she felt that she knew the answer.
"Daygon," She whispered to him. "Are you alright?" He didn't look alright and Scarlett was scared. Not for herself, but for what would happen to him if he turned. They would have to kill him if he attacked.... and Scarlett didn't feel that she could bring herself to do that.

Daygon caught up to the group and replied to Scarlett, 'Yes... I... I am fine' he winced as he spoke and clutched his arm.
'As soon as we get this mushroom I will search for a cure'. Daygon walked with Scarlett and the others down a long dark tunnel searching for the mushroom.

Rayvn overheard Scarlett and Daygon's conversation. She usually wasn't an eavesdropper, but sometimes she couldn't help it. She heard but didn't reply.
"Well, the path splits in two here." she said. "We should split up, and contact using our Guild Seals. I'll go with Glenroy, and Neverfall on the right. Scarlett, you go with Faddarz and Daygon."

Scarlett nodded at Ravyn and motioned for the others to follow her down the left path. It was a very wet cave, or at least their tunnel was. Water was dripping from various cracks over head. Witchwood was a very wet place.
They turned one of the bends in the tunnel and Scarlett nearly fell over from an incredible stench. She covered her face with her hand to hide her nose from it.
"Mephitis," She reassured herself and the others, "It's just cave rot." They walked along, Scarlett pulling a scarf over her face. She feared the worst.

Ravyn let Scarlett and the other heroes fade into the other side of the cave before going to her side. Glenroy and Neverfall were right behind her. The cave was dripping with water and they were walking through the cave, ankle deep in water. Her boots were drenched, and her hair felt glued to her head. She continued on.
